Five hundred-plus scorecards since 2021, and I'm still finding things to learn. What's changing in my game, where I'm finding strokes, and what keeps bringing me back.

October field update / Since the last look

A little more of my game is coming back.

My latest 20 complete main-18 rounds at Willow Fork average 4.80 under par, compared with 3.85 under in the previous 20. That's almost a stroke a round. My average UDisc rating moved from 175.9 to 181.3 across those same windows. It's an encouraging stretch, even though I'm still below my 2024 annual rating average.

Previous 20 · May 20–Sep 4−3.85Average versus par
175.9 average UDisc rating
Latest 20 · Sep 9–Oct 24−4.80Average versus par
181.3 average UDisc rating

The new export brings my log to 526 scorecards: 43 rounds since May and 11 older entries recorded under my full name. I've also separated incomplete rounds from the full-round comparisons. That makes this a fresh look at the evidence, rather than just a larger number at the top.

01

The form curve

My monthly average UDisc rating, now through October 2026. My 2024 average was about 186; my 2026 average so far is about 176. The recent Willow Fork stretch is improving, but I want to keep that longer view in sight.

02

Volume vs. scoring

My logged scorecards each year, with the average UDisc rating from completed, rated scorecards. 82 entries in 2026 so far puts me above either of the previous two years. More rounds and better scores do not always move together.

03

Willow Fork, hole by hole

My home course, 376 completed standard main-18 rounds, grouped across its two UDisc names. Each round has the same par-55 hole sequence. Bar height shows how often I score birdie or better; orange marks holes where I make bogey or worse more than 7% of the time.

Birdie or better (taller = better) Bogey+ above 7%
04

The training targets

The five par-3s with my lowest birdie-or-better rates. Hole 14 also has my highest bogey-plus rate. These are places I want to pay attention, not proof of which part of my throw needs fixing.

Patterns I found between the scorecards.

06

The tour so far

Where I played, with the Willow Fork and Agnes Moffitt name changes grouped together. Bar = logged scorecards; number = my average UDisc rating from completed, rated cards at that course. An unrated course is still part of the story.

How I counted these rounds

This October 24 export contains 526 entries under my two player names: Jason and Jason Bates. I excluded every other player's scores and UDisc's par-reference rows. Of my entries, 502 complete the recorded layout, 22 are partial, and 2 have no hole scores. All 526 remain in my log totals; only completed layouts enter the rating summaries. Ratings are available for 215 completed scorecards, so the 180 average is not an average of all 526 entries.

The Willow Fork hole chart, practice targets, nine-hole averages and recent comparisons use 376 completed standard 18-hole, par-55 scorecards. Custom and pro-tee layouts, incomplete cards and the empty entries are excluded. A zero in this export means an unplayed hole, not a zero-stroke score. For every scored card I checked the total against its hole scores and the recorded score versus par against the par of the holes actually played.

I grouped Willow Fork, Willow Fork Park and Willow Fork DGC in the course list, and grouped the two Agnes Moffitt names. Other course names remain as exported; they may not all represent different physical courses. Monthly and yearly ratings span different courses and layouts. The latest year and month are incomplete, and small monthly samples can swing sharply. Chart tooltips show the number of rated cards.

These are UDisc round ratings, not PDGA ratings. Scorecards do not measure putt distance, drive accuracy, weather or why a score changed. The earlier snapshot remains available as a record of what I saw then; its counts and methods have been superseded by this update.
