Fairway Miles / Field note 001

Every hole
had a chance.

September 13, 2026 · Willow Fork DGC · Main 18

I ran from throw to throw. The thing I want to remember is how often I stood over the next shot thinking: I have a chance here.

I finished with eight birdies and ten pars. I missed some chances, but this was the first round where I felt every drive put me close enough to have a real look. That part matters to me as much as the final number.

The outing

Throw. Move. Settle. Repeat.

Garmin recorded a mix of running, walking, and standing. The score held together across both nines while I kept moving between shots.

What I noticed

A par can tell two different stories.

A par after a drive that left me a birdie chance feels different from a par I had to scramble for. The scorecard records them the same way. Today, the opportunities stood out.

Three birdies in the first four holes. Four under on each nine. Birdies on the last two. I don't know yet whether running helped my rhythm. This is one round, but it's a useful place to start looking.

Next time, I want to remember roughly how far those birdie attempts were. That would help me tell the difference between getting closer and simply feeling more confident about the shot.

About these numbers

Scoring comes from the September 13 UDisc export. Distance, elapsed time, heart rate, and movement classifications come from the Garmin activity recorded that morning. The scorecard has minute-level start and end times; Garmin contains second-level samples. Their end times differ, so the round window and full outing are shown separately.

Having a chance after every drive is my recollection of the round, not a tracked Circle 1 statistic. Neither file records putt distances or shot times. Heart-rate windows cannot be assigned to individual holes. UDisc's round rating uses its own scale and is not a PDGA rating.
